The Ugly Duckling
Opis spektaklu
Everyone knows the adventures of a little swan, which is often humiliated by its brothers. The duckling will be accepted by others only after changing into a beautiful adult swan. But is it the right thing…? Do we really have to change for others to accept us?
The play of Dzieci Zagłębia Theatre pays attention to the diversity, showing that it should be accepted. People should be empathetic and respond to every case of aggression towards someone different. In times of ‘haterade’ phenomenon this topic is extremely up to date, and the power of an old story takes on a new dimension.
The plot is enriched with lively melodies, poetic images fade over the humorous genre scenes, and the vivid set cooperates with the stage prop animation. The choreography by Małgorzata Fijałkowska guarantees dynamics. Painted by hand, wooden stage design by Barbara Wójcik-Wiktorowicz uses traditional patterns and corresponds with the folklore motives in creating amazing world of people and animals.
